ANNE JONES
Artist's Statement
Over the past few years my own work has principally been photographic. It has aimed to consider visually and theoretically the enigmatic space between inside and outside, particularly in relation to the 'edge-ness' of women's experience, and I have been particularly interested in Derrida's work on the nature and place of the frame. I am also interested in the metaphoric uses and meanings of objects in relation to the building of narrative and the creation of identity.
In 2002 I had a major stroke. For a while I could not work. However, in the past year I have begun to explore visually this experience which has so profoundly affected my life. However, I realise it is still about the uncertain space between inside and outside.
