JEAN WALLIS
About the Artist
Based in rural West Berkshire Jean paints and draws from life, from memory and from her imagination. She refuses to be tied to any one style and is unconcerned with exact appearance. She exploits all the qualities of her chosen materials in her quest to reveal the essence of her subject.
Currently she is using painting and drawing to explore environmental issues. Landfill, litter and air pollution have all inspired work.
Her latest work has widened to explore the philosophical questions surrounding change and nostalgia affected by architecture and planning.

Awards
Jean has won several awards for her painting including, in 2000, the prestigious Spink-Leger (Newbury Spring Festival) Painting Prize.
Exhibitions
She has exhibited successfully with the New English Art Club at the Mall Galleries, London, in galleries throughout the South and in Wales. Her work can be found in private collections throughout the UK and in Australia.
She participates regularly in the Newbury and HADCAF Open Studio Schemes and has been a member of remarks since 2004.
