I am interested in what makes us remember certain facts or images for years or decades. Is it chance or selection, or external influences?
At school I rote learned quite a few things; times tables, poems, latin verbs. I still remember large fragments of stuff which I can't 'unlearn' even if it is not particularly interesting.
Then when I try to remember lines from a favourite poem, eg, St Agnes Eve by Keats, it it very elusive.
In Timelines I am thinking about which people are influential in writing on or erasing material from our 'magic slate'.
